RACE RECAP
Kyle Larson captured his first victory of the 2025 season by capitalizing on teammate Alex Bowman's misfortune in the closing laps of the Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Bowman, who won the pole and led from the front through much of the second half, appeared headed for a breakthrough victory of his own when he tagged the outside retaining wall with his right front on Lap 261, bending suspension components and scrubbing off critical speed. Larson, who had been stalking his Hendrick Motorsports teammate with superior long-run pace, powered past for a 1.205-second victory and the 30th win of his career.
The race unfolded as a strategic chess match on the progressive-banking oval, with only four cautions for 27 laps allowing long green-flag runs that separated the strong cars from the pretenders. Ryan Blaney led a race-high 124 laps and won Stage 1, but faded through the final stint as Hamlin claimed Stage 2 and Larson took Stage 3. Bubba Wallace posted the fastest single lap of the race and finished a career-best third, while Chase Briscoe and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top five in a display of strong team speed from Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI.
Larson's 30th career victory made him the third-winningest driver in Hendrick Motorsports history, and his ability to manage tires over long runs at Homestead proved decisive. For Bowman, the sting of watching the win slip away was tempered by a second-place finish and the knowledge that his No. 48 team had genuine front-running speed. The clean, strategy-focused race stood in stark contrast to the pack-racing chaos earlier in the season.
