Denny Hamlin turned the Cook Out 400 into a masterclass in short-track dominance, leading 274 of 400 laps at Martinsville Speedway in a performance that erased a decade-long winless drought at the historic half-mile paperclip. Hamlin seized the lead on Lap 126 and never relinquished it for more than a single circuit the rest of the afternoon, pulling away during a final 75-lap green-flag run to beat Christopher Bell by a commanding 4.617 seconds. The victory was Hamlin's sixth at Martinsville, most among active full-time drivers, and his 55th career Cup win, tying him with Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace for 11th on the all-time list.

The win was deeply personal for Hamlin and represented a turning point in his partnership with new crew chief Chris Gayle. After Gayle replaced the longtime pit box leader on the No. 11 Toyota, questions lingered about whether the new dynamic could produce results. Martinsville answered emphatically. Hamlin credited Gayle and his engineering group for bringing a completely different approach to the setup, and the car's balance through Martinsville's flat corners and heavy braking zones was visibly superior to the competition. Bell, the three-time early-season winner, could not mount a serious challenge despite starting from the pole.

Bubba Wallace completed a strong day for the Toyota camp with a third-place finish, while Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five. The race featured 10 cautions for 86 laps and nine lead changes among six drivers, but none of the other contenders could sustain a challenge against Hamlin's relentless pace. Joey Logano won Stage 1 before Hamlin swept Stage 2 and the final stage to complete the dominant afternoon.
