RACE RECAP
Ryan Blaney spent most of the Quaker State 400 proving he had the best car. On the final lap, he still had to take the race back. Carson Hocevar led the overtime field to the white flag, with Bubba Wallace pushing Blaney toward the front. Blaney swung outside of Hocevar entering Turn 1, and Christopher Bell stayed attached to the No. 12 through the final corners. Bell's last shove put Blaney ahead in a three-wide charge to the stripe.
The official margin over Bell was 0.068 seconds, but the order took time to settle. Wallace crossed the line believing he had finished second after diving below the yellow line while battling Blaney and Hocevar. NASCAR ruled that the No. 23 advanced its position out of bounds and moved Wallace to 29th, the last car on the lead lap. Bell was elevated to second, Hocevar to third, Ty Gibbs to fourth and Erik Jones to fifth.
That frantic finish followed one of the most controlling performances the reconfigured Atlanta track has produced. Blaney started from the pole, led all 60 laps in Stage 1 and swept Stage 2. Team Penske occupied the first three positions early, while Tyler Reddick charged from 31st to challenge the leaders. Hocevar first reached the lead on Lap 83, but Blaney reclaimed it before weather stopped the race after 108 laps.
The red flag lasted more than three hours, pushing the restart past midnight and the finish to nearly 2 a.m. Blaney immediately resumed controlling the draft. Wallace stayed near the front but spun after contact from Gibbs at the end of Stage 2, then recovered to play a decisive role in the overtime run. In the end, Blaney led 171 of 263 laps, the most by a winner in a drafting-track race since Richard Petty led 184 laps in the 1964 Daytona 500. It was Blaney's second victory of 2026, his second at Atlanta and the 19th Cup win of his career.
