RACE RECAP
Carson Kvapil took the lead from Ross Chastain on the first overtime restart and held off Rajah Caruth through a second extra period to win the Hy-Vee Perks 250 by 0.343 seconds. Kvapil entered Indianapolis winless in 63 O'Reilly Series starts and left Iowa as the ninth driver in series history to earn his first two victories in consecutive races.
Chastain appeared headed for the win until Jeb Burton's late spin forced overtime. Chastain spun his tires from the outside lane on the first restart, allowing Kvapil to take control. Behind them, Brent Crews washed into pole winner Ryan Sieg and then collected Justin Allgaier, triggering an eight-car crash and the race-record-tying 12th caution.
Caruth used the outside lane on the final restart to claim a career-best second. William Sawalich, Chastain and Sheldon Creed completed the top five. The race ran 260 laps, 10 beyond the scheduled distance, with 12 cautions for 72 laps and seven lead changes among seven drivers.
