Bubba Wallace etched his name into Indianapolis Motor Speedway history, surviving a rain delay, two overtime restarts, and a dwindling fuel tank to win the Brickyard 400 in one of the most dramatic finishes the cathedral of speed has ever witnessed. Wallace's victory in the No. 23 Toyota made him the first Black driver to win a NASCAR race at Indianapolis, adding a historic chapter to his third career Cup Series victory and punching his ticket to the 2025 playoffs.

Wallace had built a commanding lead of more than four seconds over defending Brickyard winner Kyle Larson with four laps remaining when light rain began falling in Turn 1 of the massive 2.5-mile oval, triggering a caution and eventually an 18-minute red flag for track drying. When racing resumed, Wallace pulled ahead on the first overtime restart, but a five-car accident on the backstretch -- triggered when Christopher Bell's No. 20 Toyota rear-ended Zane Smith's No. 38 Ford -- sent the race to a second overtime period. Wallace held his nerve on the final restart, pulling away in Turn 1 and edging Larson by just 0.222 seconds to take the checkered flag.

The race featured 15 lead changes among 10 drivers and 6 cautions for 28 laps, with Austin Cindric leading the most laps early (40 in the first 83 laps). Denny Hamlin finished third, with Ryan Preece and Brad Keselowski rounding out the top five. In a side story, Ty Gibbs clinched NASCAR's inaugural In-Season Challenge championship with a 21st-place finish, earning the No. 54 team a $1 million midseason bonus in the format's debut season.
