MillerTech Battery 250 Recap: Allgaier Wins the Restart Fight at Pocono

Pocono did not give the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series much room to breathe Saturday. Ten cautions, 39 yellow-flag laps, a red flag for cleanup and 18 lead changes kept turning the MillerTech Battery 250 into a restart contest. Justin Allgaier won that contest when it mattered.

Allgaier took the lead for good on the final restart with two laps left, using a push from JR Motorsports teammate William Byron to clear the chaos behind him and drive the No. 7 Chevrolet to a 0.607-second win over Brent Crews. It was Allgaier's fifth victory of the 2026 season, his 33rd career O'Reilly Series win and his first at Pocono Raceway.

The finish was less tidy than the box score. Sam Mayer had been Allgaier's most direct threat for the second half of the race, and Mayer restarted beside him multiple times in the closing laps. Sheldon Creed tried to make the Haas Factory Team math work with a three-wide move on the last restart, but that opened the bottom and let Allgaier get the shove he needed. Crews slipped past Byron on the final corner to finish second. Byron finished third, Mayer fourth and Creed fifth.

The day had already been noisy long before the last restart. Taylor Gray started second, led 24 laps and won Stage 1, then faded to 17th after late trouble. Crews won Stage 2 and kept his rookie season pointed upward with a runner-up finish. Brandon Jones started from the pole and finished eighth. Jesse Love, Allgaier's closest championship challenger, was caught in the first wave of trouble and completed only one lap.

That points swing matters. Allgaier left Pocono with a 250-point regular-season championship lead, which is the kind of cushion that changes how a team can race the final seven regular-season events. JR Motorsports did not just win the race. It controlled the deciding lane on the final restart and put two cars on the podium.

For FantasyJolt, the slate started with the obvious hammer and still needed value to land. Allgaier was the top raw scorer at 64.5 points after leading 35 laps, finishing fourth and second in the stages, and winning the race. In the A slot of the perfect lineup, he doubled to 129 points. He was expensive at $15, but Pocono gave him enough dominator and stage scoring to justify the spend.

The difference came in the middle. Rajah Caruth started 26th, finished seventh, scored Stage 2 points and turned a $10 salary into 42 base points. Anthony Alfredo finished sixth at an $8 salary and added Stage 2 points. Parker Retzlaff finished only 15th, but his two laps led and third-place Stage 2 finish made him useful in the D slot. Dean Thompson was the true salary release: $7, 13th-place finish, two laps led, and enough base scoring to make the E slot work.

Pocono punished clean-but-flat builds. Brent Crews, Byron, Mayer and Creed were all strong real-world plays, and all finished in the top five. But the perfect FantasyJolt lineup needed Allgaier's ceiling, Caruth's place differential, Alfredo's mid-tier finish and two lower-salary pieces that found hidden points in a race full of restarts.

That is the weekly lesson from the O'Reilly side: when a race gets chopped into short runs, stage points and restart track position can matter as much as final finishing order. Allgaier had the best car at the right time. FantasyJolt lineups needed the drivers who kept scoring while Pocono kept resetting the race.
